Would You Have Mentioned It?
Today is the anniversary of my grandfather's death. When I called my Nana today, I wanted her to know that I was especially thinking of her today. But when I spoke to her, she didn't mention it, so then I didn't want to and make the convo sad. But I wonder now if she thinks I forgot and I feel badly.
Would you or wouldn't you have brought it up, being that she didn't.
Just curious...

Nana's are a real special thing. I bet you that she knows exactly how you're feeling and that you were thinking of her on this day and why.

I think you did the right thing. I wouldn't have mentioned it. I always feel like I should say something to my dad on the anniversary of my grandma (his mom's) death. It's an extremely hard day for him as it is for me, even though she's been gone 21 years now. I'm sure your grandma knows what today is. She may be trying not to bring it up in case you don't know- to not make you sad. Or it may just be that she can't talk about it today.

i call my grandma every year too, and on my papa's bday. i think they know why we're calling; not necessary to say it.

yesterday was 17 years ago that my grandma passed away (and the first gulf war started!) and usually my Dad brings it up. I don't if he doesn't, but I am sure we all thought about it!
