Would you go?
I already have a trip to Williamsburg planned for late June when the kids finish school. I bought our tickets back in March and technically we have unlimited admission to Busch Gardens and Water Country from mid-may until early-September. We will probably do 3 park days when we're there. I just saw that I can get a timeshare there for Memorial Day weekend. My kids got extra days back from unused snow days so I would be able to take them Friday-Tuesday. We would probably do 1-2 park days depending on the weather. I would really only have to pay $220 for the timeshare and spending money. My hold back is the drive. Williamsburg is a decent 6-8 hour drive, depending on traffic. Would you throw the extra trip in? Or just the one trip in late June?

We drove to Williamsburg for a 3 day weekend December 2014. Never again for a short trip.

That's exactly my fear. That it just won't be worth the effort. The trip would technically be 5 days, but 2 would be driving days.

I live in Richmond which is about an hour closer to LI than Williamsburg. The shortest trip we will come to NY when visiting our parents (if we are driving instead of flying) is 3 or 4 nights. I would recommend leaving NY EARLY Friday (like 4:30am). If you do that I think it's totally doable.

If you leave super early in the morning I think it is totally doable. It is a long drive for a short stay but if you can make the most out of your first day there I think it makes up for it.

I wouldn't drive that far for a weekend, but I don't like sitting in the car that long to begin with. Especially if you are going to make the drive again shortly thereafter. I would find somewhere closer

Re: Would you go?
I personally would not drive that far for Busch Gardens if you are going again a month after.
We live about 3 hours from Busch Gardens. We got the free preschool pass last year and we still only went once.
If you have other reasons to be in the area (visit friends or family), I would make the drive.
We often drive up to NY and surrounding areas for just the weekend and it is a 4-6 hr drive depending on traffic. We usually stop in Philly and NJ for stops to visit friends or stop by a museum/aquarium/other attraction and may only be in NYC for 1 day.

I would never do that trip in a weekend. We came home from there a few years ago and it took like 10 hours with traffic the whole way. Plus you'd be traveling on a holiday weekend. No Thank You. That's a lot of driving for a short trip.
