Would you go?
We go to Aruba every year with IL's. They have a timeshare and we have a week while they stay 3 weeks. We've been doing it every year for about 7 - 8 years. This year we got a puppy who will be 3.5 months old when they are going. We figured we wouldn't get a chance to go bc she's so young. My boys are also 6 and 4 so will be the first time taking DS1 out of 1st grade. Before that it also didn't seem like a big deal to take him out a week. Also should add my SIL and BIL who always go as well is due in March so will not be going this year either.
Anyway, fast forward to now and my IL's leave the end of this month. Puppy is doing great and we are still crate training. My boys are doing great in school as well. My mom said if we really wanted to go she would watch the dog the week. DH has been looking at flights bc I know deep down he really wants to go knowing it may be our last year or 2nd to last year since the boys are getting older. DH found great flights and keeps saying to me... what do you think? HIs only concern is the dog, which my parents said they'd watch. I still feel it's a lot for them, but think they'll be fine and love her. Besides the dog I also feel weird taking DS1 out of 1st grade a week. Sorry so long, but this is weighing on me. Plus, I'm crazy organized and usually packed by now. Of course I could get everything done, the puppy could be totally fine and the boys are old enough where it's not as much to throw together, etc. Thoughts?!

Re: Would you go?
Do it... It is the best time to take your son out of school. I had DS in Florida for 10 days in December... We got all his hw before we went. It is easier to do it while they are in elementary school.

Re: Would you go?
I say go for it...I would ask the teacher for any work he will miss (hopefully she will only give what is really important) so that he won't be behind...in one week we usually cover a whole math unit.

Re: Would you go?
GO - we went on vacation right after the new year. And I pulled DD 1 from kindergarten for a week I was freaking out but everyone said this is the time to do it I emailed her teacher and asked for all work (class work and home work) to be sent home when we got back so we could review at home. She jumped right back into the work load and class like she never missed a day So glad we did it!!!!

AS long as you know the puppy will be well cared for and you can get your son's HW assignments, GO! Have fun and enjoy!

Re: Would you go?
THanks for all the responses. Looks like we're leaning towards yes. :) I know we could all use a week to relax. Especially DH bc he owns his own construction company and has been swamped with tons of work. Also could we could use some fun time with the kids bc they're getting older and a week of sitting on my butt drinking on the beach. LOL
Hopefully we can get a good deal and will update.
