Would you drive 8 hours alone with a 2 year old?
My husband is away on business for 3 weeks. I was thinking of getting away while he is gone and going to see his family. We have driven there many times together but never me alone. Would you go 8 or more hours in the car alone with a 2 year old? One of us could always see what was up with DS if the other was driving. Im not sure I could do it alone..

Yes but I would wake up early (like 3-4am) to leave to get the bulk of the driving in.

Yes, I just drove 5 hours to see my inlaws with my 3 (6,4,2). We left at noon, the baby had a 101+ temp at the time too. What an experience that was I would also leave early but your child is anything like mine when you wake them up to be up at 3-4am they will be awake for a while then sleep when the sun comes up. Good luck!

I personally wouldn't BUT that's coming from a person who falls asleep while driving if it's longer than 3-4 hours. If you can pull it off, go for it!

Re: Would you drive 8 hours alone with a 2 year old?
Yes, I would. But then again, I drove 19 hours over 2 days with 3 kids by myself (ages 5, 4, and 18 months at the time).
We woke up at our regular time, ate breakfast, and hopped in the car. Travelled all day, stopped for food and potty breaks, and drove until 5:00pm. Checked into a hotel, ate dinner, slept, and continued on the next day.

I don't know-if I did, I would do what others suggested and leave at 3 or 4 in the morning so they sleep some of the trip.

Re: Would you drive 8 hours alone with a 2 year old?
i would never even think of leaving at 3 or 4am to be the only responsible party for a 2 year old..what happens if something happens? flat tire related, youd be trying to get help at 4am? Not likely..then my other biggest fear, falling asleep at the wheel.. i would do it, just not at that time, i would leave at 4ish, after theyve eaten an early dinner, and then id stop once to change into pajamas half way through..youll be where you need to be before 1am..(id try and bring a portable dvd player if you dont have one in your car) good luck!!
