Would you bring your older child (5yo) when going in for a scheduled CS?
I am scheduled in 4 weeks, going to NSUH . My CS is scheduled for 7am but have to be there at 5am 
Trying to decide if I should leave DD home with my MIL or if we should bring her (and my MIL) with us . Originally we were planning on leaving her home, but as it's getting closer I'm starting to feel like maybe we should take her with us, I really would love to have her there.
But I'm not sure how long the whole thing is going to take , with my DD even though I was scheduled I went in labor the night before and we ended up waiting for an available operation room for almost 5hrs. I'm not sure how it works if you go in on an actual scheduled surgery, do you still have to wait or do they just take you in as scheduled?
What do you think ?

Definitely wouldn't bring your older child. Even if it's scheduled, you can easily get bumped for an emergency (or 2). And most likely she will not be able to see you in the recovery room anyway, so why make her hang at the hospital?

I was scheduled for 8:00, got to the hospital at 6:00, and still didn't get operated on until almost 11:00.
They took emergency patients and women in actual labor before me. I was in a birthing room waiting for my turn, but I could still hear some screams. And it was a long boring wait!
And then it was another hour after delivery for me to get stitched up and move to recovery. I didn't hold my son for about 2 hours after he was born.
I think it will be a long morning for your older child.

Leave her home IMO. You don't know how long you'll be. Hopefully everything will go smoothly, but if there's a complication that needs to be dealt with, it could be very scary for her.

so happy my 3 year old was part of it.
they kept pushing me back, so my mother and sister would take him out for a bit, then return for updates.
he was there when they wheeled me out and there when they wheeled me back in.
he was so proud to be there since it was his baby too

We are planning on keeping DS home, although depends which neighbor is around since we don't have family out here. He turns 5 in 2 days. If he comes to the hospital with us, then DH will have to watch him instead of being with me. I highly doubt they allow 5 year olds in the operating room, even if you think it's a good idea.

I would have Dh call whoever is watching my other DC as soon as they started really prepping me so that DC can be there as soon as we could have visitors.

unfortunately MIL doesn't drive, so DH would have to come back to Queens, get DD and his mom and bring them to see me and the baby, then drive them bck to our place , then decide if he can come back and stay with me or stay home and come back th next morning 
These are the times I wish I had some of my family around (they live overseas) and get so sad , makes you feel kinda lonely, even though DH's family is wonderful and always there for us/me.

I am struggling with the same issue.
My c/s is scheduled for 7:30 and need to be in at 5:30 - I know I will be taking DS out of school for that day (it's a Tues), but unsure if I will have him come with us or have MIL bring him ~7:30.
I was scheduled with him, my niece (I was a surrogate) and am with DD. I personally never had any labor signs with the first 2. DS I was scheduled for 1:00 - DS was born at 2:34pm. I can't recall time my Niece was born, but I was fairly on time. I am hoping I'll be on-time as it's first thing in the morning!
I def. want him there - and we've promised him that he will eb the first to see DD (after DH & I of course).
This is a big even for him and he is so excited and proud. I know having him be up early will be rough, but he's very good at getting his butt in gear if it's for a good reason.

I had my 21 months old there while I had my csec. I had my csec at 2pm and she didn't see me until 7pm. I had complications after my csec so i couldnt have visitors in tye recovery room, but had I been fine she would have been able to see me in there.I wanted her to be there and I'm happy she was. I would absolutely bring a 5 year old!
