would you bring a 1 yr old to the circus?

i'm going back and forth on whether I want to bring my DD. I just feel like it is a long day, getting up early, making the train, being in the city, and then sitting through the circus.. and then everything again going back home. am I making this harder than it is? is it worth it?

personally i would wait until DS was 2 years old so i would be sure he'd enjoy it... i don't know that he truly would at a year old. he is only 6.5 months old so don't go by me but that does seem like a long day for a one-year-old.

I would not. I would think maybe 2.5. My younger DD will be 2 in May and I wouldn't dream of bringing that child!!

For a one year old - it is a lot. I look at my three year old and one year old and think that I wouldn't even bring them until three. Maybe two would be easier for them to handle (and you too).

Although fun, maybe DC is a little too young.

Does she walk? If not, I would take her. Once they start walking, they don't like to sit for shows. We've been to a few and sitting isn't what DD enjoys to do there!

I took DD to the circus last year when she was 9.5 months and again this year (she was 21 months). Both times she loved it - we went to the preshow first where you can walk around on the floor and they do various little performances and have some animals out, as well as a bunch of clowns and people on stilts.

We didn't try the city though - we went to Nassau Col. so we didn't have to deal with the train etc.

Etd to add though my DD is very highly spirited and won't sit for 2 seconds normally. We did get her a seat this time - and got the front row of the section on the end just in case - she sat in her chair or stood at the railing - she was so wrapped up in the show she was clapping and dancing for most of it. I would have been happy if she made it to intermission - so if you go you might want to have some lower standards...Could you work the trip where she would nap on the way in and bring a small stroller that is collapsible.

I can speak from experience. We took DD last March and she was 14 months. She loved it! The music and the action were enough to keep her engaged. The only part when she was restless was during intermission.

When DS was around 1 (just under I think) we took him to a local circus - one of those traveling family things. The show was about 1.5 hours. HE LOVED IT! he had so much fun pointing at the animals and clapping and was mesmerized half the time. That said - it was local so we didn't have to travel on top of this.

We took DD last weekend. She is 10 months and she really loved it. She was bouncing on my lap and clapping her hands. I was really suprised!

We don't plan on taking Joey until he is 3 or 4. But now reading these posts, maybe I am waiting to long

My Sister took DD and my nephew to the circus on Thursday. DD is 16 months old and my sister said she had a blast. She clapped and was amused the entire show. However I live in the city and my sister stood in my house so she didn't have a long commute.

Nope! We took Ds when he was 16 months and even that was a bust. He was interested in having his face painted and that was about it. We didn't even take him this year at over 2yrs because he's just not the kind of kid to sit and watch anything.

I thought about it too....but I think it would be too much for Kaydyn....it's such a long day and I def think she wouldn't last.

Nassau Col---YES and Amelia loved it. She was barking at the elephants! LMAO!

Madison Sqre Grdn---NO!Too much to go through; like you described. I'd wait until next year.

Yes!! We have been taking Andrew ever since he was 10 months old. He loves it every single time.
