Would you be mad?

My DH already works a ton of hours which he says he will scale back once the baby comes. I get mad sometimes when I only spend one or two nights a week together because he is working late (Leaves at 6am and gets home at 11pm). So today we were talking to my SIL. Her 8 yr old daughter has her recital in early June and this year they are doing a father/daughter dance. I will say she is serious about dancing (does competitions). My SIL said that her dad does not want to do it because he is a horrible dancer. Instead she asks my DH - who of course does not hesitate and says yes. Rehearsals are going to be almost all of May, 2 days a week for 2 hrs in the evenings. Our DS will be 3 mths and we will be planning his Christening for June. I was so mad! At both SIL & DH - am I wrong?

I don't blame you...that would get me a little upset too especially since you said that the toime you spend together is already limited.

Re: Would you be mad?

Honestly... yes IMHO you are wrong. To your niece, this recital is huge and to not have someone to dance with is quite embarrassing. Trust me, i know. So it's quite nice that your husband stepped up to the plate and won't let her down. Chat Icon

I definitely don't think you can be mad at your SIL or your husband. Your SIL just wants to make her daughter happy and your husband just wants to make his niece happy. Don't you hope that one day they'll be there for your child like that?

Your baby will be 3 months old by then and you should be in a little routine by then. 2 hours a week, 2 days a week isn't bad at all. Since he'll be scaling back on working once the baby comes, thats 5 other nights a week you'll have him! Chat Icon

No, I don't think you are wrong toi feel the way you do. You miss DH's time. And you want to make darn sure that DS gets it before anyone else does. We can't help the way we feel.
I would speak with him but before you do, think of what you want to say before you say it! Remember that he is doing somethign positive for his niece. Something that her own father didn't want to do.

IMO......I think that it is wonderful for him to do this with her. It shows that he is family orientated. I think he's a great guy to go out there and dance with her.

I am sure the day of the recitale (sp) you will have chills looking at the stage and seeing your DH! I totally give him credit. I think it's super sweet of him. IMO, I'd be so proud.

He WILL be there for DS and for his baptism. He'll make the time for everything! Just think of all the amazing things he'll be doing with DS in the future. I think he's a swell guy!
