Would you accept this job offer?

Company that you would work for outsources services for other companies.

The said company that they have contracted, signed a contract for 3 years. You would be doing work for said company but if after 3 years, they do not re-sign, you might either lose your job or be offered another one. The downside is that if they don't have one in your state, you might have to relocate.

If you are truly not looking to relocate, would you take the job and hope that either the company that has signed the contract, re-signs or that they have, at that time, another job in your area?

No, would be too risky for me. I would feel more comfortable that I had a stable job/guaranteed income and that I was not going to relocate.

I wouldn't leave an existing position, but if I was looking for work than yes. I'd stay for 1-2 years and then look again.

3 years is a long time.

If you have a current job, would it be a large increase in pay? Are other benefits good? Is the work challenging and interesting to you?

I would take a 3 year contract if the money and benefits were good. There is always another job - if not with this company, you are growing your resume which would help you find another position.

Pay is more (actually might be significantly more). Good benefits and work same as done before but only that work would be done, not the extras that were being done for a lot less money.

If the pay was significant....hmm.

I mean, maybe I'd roll the dice.

It would depend if I knew I was dead-set on staying here on LI (or wherever).

Also - NO job is ever secure, you know? like anything could happen at any time, for any reason...this may look risky on paper, but it might not end up that way.

some things in life..you just can't plan. A big salary increase would have me rolling the dice at this stage of my life.

so...i would think about it. go over it in your head and play out the different scenarios.

This is ridiculous. Any job could end at any time. If it's a good opportunity than go for. Face the next step when it comes. A lot can change in 3 years. Job stability is a joke in this day and age.

I would take it and bust my @ss.. but I love start ups. There are a lot of risk, but its easy to show your worth and get ahead. I implemented a small process at my job recently and you would think I scored a million dollar deal for them.Chat Icon

Re: Would you accept this job offer?

What does the contract say if THEY breach it before the 3 years? Would you qualify for severance? Stil earn skills to become marketable elsewhere?

What happens if during the 3 years YOU opt to leave for better job elsewhere or for another reason? Would you have to pay them any fee for breaching?

Good questions, not sure of the answers yet as it hasn't gotten that far.
Thanks :)

I would accept it. 3 years is a reasonable amount of time. Very few jobs that I know of have job security anyways so knowing this info up front is actually helpful.

My husband works in an industry based on situations like this. If a show is cancelled, people lose their jobs. It just happened to him, but he doesn't regret it and it was a great opportunity at the time.

If it is a good opportunity despite the time frame and you find out the details regarding the contract, I would take a chance.
