Would You Accept Lower Pay To Get Into A Company You Like?

I have a dilemma with this, there's a possibity of a job offer but it would involve a pay cut of about 10k and the job won't be as interesting as what I'm used to. However the company is HUGE and there's alot of room to move within the company.

I'm just abit fed up with interviiewing lately and am wondering if I should just take the opportunity and try to move within the company from that.

Any thoughts? Has anyone had to go through such a predicament?

That is an individual decision. It depends a lot on your situation. First off, can you live with the paycut? Secondly it is great that the company is big with possible advancement but what have they showed you that you will advance. Which leads to the what you say about the job description. Will you be okay at a job that is less interesting, less challenging to you for an idefinate amount of time?
Job searching stinks. It took me a long time countless number of interviews and companies.
I finally found something and in the 3 days I have been there I am resasking myself a million questions as to why I chose this place.
Just think things through and good luck!

I have taken a job at lower pay for what I thought was a better company. For me it did not work out, but I would indeed do it again if I thought it was worth it! As long as the pay loss is not too straining.

I took a 6K paycut from my library job in Queens to work on LI, and for me, it was totally worth it. My commute was cut in half, I worked in a better neighborhood, my stress level decreased tremendously, and my overall mental health improved. I can't advance in the library I'm working in, so I'd have to apply elsewhere if I want a higher position.

are the other jobs/departments in your company more interesting? I'd ask about lateral transfers. You might find something you really like doing!

good luck!!

It really depends on age, future potential in new company, if it's the very beginnning of a career or you are "well seasonned".

I have done this twice and neither time it worked out as intended. I always got "you do a great job in your position and we need you there". But I didnt want to be in that position. My recommendation is to take a job you like with a salary you find acceptable.

I would hold out until you find the job that really meets your needs.

Unless for some reason, you need to leave your current job immediately. But if it's interesting to you and pays well, I'd rather stay there while I was looking.
