would this bother you?
So we go to my MIL's house last night for dinner, since DH's bday is on monday...
now im wearing a shirt that def shows off my bump!! she says nothing about the bump...and then proceeds to tell me i look "healthy"
umm healthy? really?? that comment just made me feel huggge!!!!
she ALWAYS uses annoying words to describe things that annoy me!!
like when we just bought our house, she kept calling it quaint! (at it may be small, but its far from quaint) anyways..this one kept replaying in my head the whole dinner!
healthy!!!?!?! like of course i look healthy cuz i sure am eating well! aka why i look so fat!!!! and not one word about my bump! im proud of my big bump, not so much the a$$ and everything else that came with my bump, but i like my bump! talk about that!!! or if anything just lie and say i look good!!
sorry i needed to vent!

It would totally pi$$ me off. I hate off handed comments like that.
My sister's MIL made a comment to me the other night: I was having a 2nd piece of pizza (we were there for my niece's 5th birthday) and she says to my mother Jenn is using the pregancy to eat anything she wants.  Um ok not to make anyone feel bad but I am still down 6lbs pre-pregnancy weight (I am a fluffy girl to start with) I was so angry. I am not getting fat I am growing a BABY!!!!!!!!

i would be a little annoyed at a comment like that however it seems that your MIL is just that kind of person. DH's mom is like that. she says weird comments or no comments at all and it makes me mad. she doesnt get happy or excited over things i think a mom should.
perhaps she thought she may offend you by commenting on a bump?
as for the other poster....2 slices of pizza....umm i eat 2 slices when im not pregnant! people just dont realize how hurtful things come out

Same here! 2 slices is nothing.
I had another teacher tell me how chubby my cheeks are getting.  Awesome.

I can't believe the things people say to pregnant women; it is unreal!! I am sure you look GREAT! 
Oh and btw, 2 slices is SO normal for me, pregnant or not!! Does your sister have kids yet? Because if not, you should remember all of those comments and kindly repay them back to her when she is pregnant.

People really need to think about their descriptive words. That would annoy me, and I'm the type of person that would ask her what she means. Not PG related, but my BIL's fiance calls my wedding band "dainty" and it annoys me to no end for some reason.
I would take it with a grain of salt though. I remember when you moved into your house and posted pictures of it...if she thinks that gorgeous house is "quaint," she obviously doesn't know what quaint means  . And though I'm sure you are a healthy person (health-wise, not width-wise, haha), your PG figure should only be described as BEAUTIFUL!

I don't think it would bother me, but it seems that you just don't like lots of things she says, and this is just another one.
As a one time comment.....no it wouldn't bother me at all. But if you have a history of her saying dumb things then maybe it would irk me.

My MIL does the exact same thing! It pisses me off every single time when she makes comments that just totally unnecessary.
Unfortunately I can't say anythingcause she will flip out so I just smile nod and try to let it go.
Try not to let her bother you I know its easirt said than done but just enjoy your big beautiful baby bump and enjoy it!

I think what she said was actually pretty nice. My MIL will just say, "Wow, you look big today!" Meanwhile, I am FAR from big. You can barely tell I'm pregnant at 28 weeks. Anyway, next time she says, "You look healthy!" You say, "Thanks! So do you!"
I am really itching to say that to my MIL next time she says I look big, LMAO!

If you and your MIL are anything like how me and MIL used to be I'm sure you are just constantly on edge when around her so even the smallest little things irk you. I used to be that way too. But I have learned to just ignore her. I feel like most of what she says comes from the right place she just says it all wrong.

ITA if someone told me I looked healthy, I would think they were referring to how nice, shiny and long my hair and nails have gotten from this pregnancy and how clear my skin is. But it sounds like you have had other issues with her in the past so I can see why you are on edge with whatever she says.

I feel like 2 slices is an average amount for an adult to eat, even if you just picked up the entire pie.. folded it in half and took a bite she should still keep her comments to herself!
