would this bother you - re: dc calling someone else mom
dc on rare occasion will think dh is there, and will start to say daddy then realize its mommy...
So dh took ds out(when I stayed home) he started to say mommy but only another lady was in the room....
lady says to dh do you think (mommy) would mind if we tell her ds said it... then proceeds to text me that ds did it...... I of course didn't respond to it and just talked about other stuff.... The next day I call her to ask something and she again brings up how ds did that.....
Just wondering what people think of the lady's actions.....
would you think nothing of it OR would you think why would she feel the need to text it if she had to ask dh - and why would she bring it up a second time....

hrm.. AJ did that about then.. Every female was mommy and every male daddy, unless I introduced them to her by name. Still if it was a brunette of my size she'd slip and say mama. Thankfully not that many match Jim's height, build and ethnic background so that doesnt come up.
But even now, she'll get 'confused' and call me or him 'auntie' when she's spent time with my aunt. We tell her "im not auntie" and she'll giggle it off.
Then again around 3 or so she also called Jim "Jim" or "babe"

I do not understand this. Is this person a stranger? Did your child call them mommy, or did they just say the word mommy into the universe while this woman was in the room? I cannot figure out who said what and why it be bothersome.

I'm not quite following what happened here exactly. Is it bugging you that the woman told you ds said "mommy" instead of "daddy" when you weren't there?

Sounds like there is more to the story... Like who is the lady.
A few kids of friends of ours would refer to me as mama... But it only means woman; a "mama" made me smile though... It's so sweet to hear a kid say mama!

!
This.....my DD could not say Grammy or Grandma for the longest time so she called my Mom Mama. It was fine until my Mom started bragging that she was so close to DD that she called her Mama That was to much for me. She now calls her Grandmama and my mom loves that and I really adore it too. I think it's 2 things
1- If they are to young to really get it then I would move on. I mean my DD used to say MamaDada almost all the time because she wanted to address my DH and I right lol. Kids do the best they can and their minds work faster then their eyes I think
2- The bigger issue is this woman. Why say anything? What was the point? I think there is more to this and I am confused about what happened, but clearly there is some sort of jealousy here on her end. My other question would be how close is she to DD?

Who is this lady? Does your DC know her well?
I don't think it is a big deal but I wonder why she would find the need to mention it multiple times to you.

yes ds knows how to say everyones names... I'm not concerned about him saying it because I know he kinda starts to say it when he's not looking up(so its like he thought I was in the room), and as he then looks up, he stops and corrects himself as to who it actually is......and I know he definitely doesn't think anyone else is his parent.
I was wondering why this lady felt the need to mention it multiple times.... more to the story = at times she admits she's very excited when she gets to see ds and at times is possessive and crosses over the line acting like she thinks ds is her kid...so I wondered if you outloud are wondering if telling someone something would upset them - and its not something they need to know then why go ahead and text them and when you text them and they don't comment on it, but talk about other stuff, then WHY feel the need to bring it up a second time(instead of thinking hey, maybe they didn't like hearing that)

Oh... I see.
Sorry.
People are stupid.
Trust me... Your baby knows who is his mama. The "lady" whoever she is may not be trying to hurt you intentionally... And kids use mama in all sort of ways, but in general (IMO), people are stupid and say things that they like without considering deep in their heart how others feel sometimes.
Again...

Re: would this bother you - re: dc calling someone else mom
We always hang out with my friend and her dc a year older than mine. My friend's dc calls her mommy but my dc calls me mama. For a long time my dc thought I was mama and she was mommy- that mommy was like her name, lol. We thought it was so funny.

I can guess this lady is your mother-in-law. And I can guess she is a pain in the butt. Enough said
