Would it be too much to have TWO first birthday parties?
This is insane.
I want to have a nice party with close family & friends for DD's first birthday. That list is almost 100 people. I do not want to have it at a hall, and that head count is too many people for both my parents' house & my Mil's house. I live in an apt so cannot accomodate. Both are willing to have the party at their respective homes, but only for 50 people- max.
I was going to cut out all of our friends and just do a family party at my parents'...approx 50-55 people. But, there are some friends that I really want to have there. But- as it usually is, if you invite that couple you have to invite this person and so on. So the list grows.
I just talked to MIL and she suggested having a family BBQ at my parents' house and the following weekend have a friends & their kids party at her house...mainly because she started buying stuff when I suggested the other day about having another large party- at her house.
So- the question is, do you think i'd be crazy to split the list & have 2 separate parties on two different weekends? Should I just do the family one and forget the friends?
I just feel like I will be letting DD down if I don't do the works for her, but at the same time I am dreading planning more parties
I need guidance!

I think that it is ALOT of work. This is coming from someone who has huge bashes (Jacks 1st birthday had 125+ adults and 55 kids) and Tyler will have roughly the same amount
It's alot of work for you to do.
The prepping, the cooking, the cleanup, everything is really really exhausting.
I would do one party and that's it.
If you don't mind all of the work then I see nothing wrong with two parties.

I agree with the PP. That's a lot of work.
And if you invite about 100 people, do you think all of them are going to come?
We invited about 140 people to DD's christening and we should have about 70 people all together.
