Working with an agent- MORE INFO

When an agent schedules you to see a few houses in one afternoon, do you meet up with her and she drives you to each house in her car? Would you drive her? Or would you drive separately to each house?

Either drive separately or in their car.

Re: Question about working with a RE Agent

We always drove separately. I liked doing things this way because my husband and I were able to go over what we liked and didn't like about each house in private on our way to the next.

Meet at the first house and drive separate to the other houses.

Totally up to you.

I know some buyers prefer to ride with me if they are not that familiar with the area. Sometimes I like to drive with my buyers just so we can chat in between houses and I can get their feedback on what they like and don't like.

But I also don't mind at all if they want to drive separately.

Ok, you are all confirming what I thought, that the agent would drive or we would follow her.

Last week, we met an agent at her office, and she got in our car and we did all the driving to see 6 houses. 3 hours later and lots of gas used, we had to drop her back off at the office. My FH was really annoyed, but I wasn't sure if this was the norm when working with an agent.

That's definitely NOT the norm! I would never even consider doing that, unless a customer specifically asked that I ride in their car. But unless it was a buyer I knew and had taken out before, I think I'd be leery (for personal safety reasons). Even if a buyer needs to take their own car (e.g., they have a baby in a car seat), I will take mine and we will drive separately.

Did the agent say anything about why she didn't have her car? (E.g, "Do you mind driving? I got a flat tire today" or something like that?). Just curious!

Thanks for your response Christine. She said something to the effect of she used to drive people but they were getting scared? I didn't question it at the time, but it's just odd. I like her otherwise but now I don't want to schedule more than one property at a time if I'm going to have to drive to her office, pick her up, and do all the driving. We haven't signed anything with her, but I would feel bad not working with her anymore since she's spent a lot of time with us already.

Maybe it's just a misunderstanding? I always appreciate honesty from my customers. I would just tell her that, in the future, you'd be more comfortable driving separately or taking her car (whatever you prefer).

It doesn't make sense just to see one property at a time. I think seeing 4 properties at a time is ideal... not too many so that you get overwhelmed/confused, but enough that you are being efficient with your search and comparing one to the other at the same time to narrow your criteria as you go.

I agree, just be honest. I would say that you would prefer if you meet at the first house and go from there.

Re: Working with an agent- MORE INFO

We've always just met up with the agent and drove separately. Idk that I would want to just jump into someone else's car.
