Working out while pregnant
Do you work out? and what do you do? I have been working out for about 6 months now but I have been doing pilates zumba, and koga... All high intensity classes. I want to continue to work out I am just 1 month pregnant so I know this is a scary time but what can I do

Re: Working out while pregnant
I would double check with your doctor first. My doctor said I could still do Zumba (not as hard though/tone it down) and my Leslie Sansone Walking
(I have been sick (m/s all day/night) so I have not had the energy or desire to exercise.

Re: Working out while pregnant
i reduced my exercise to walking only just in case. i also bought a prenatal workout dvd which included ab/crunch work, but my doc said that was probably not a good idea.

Re: Working out while pregnant
My midwives said I could work out as long as I didn't overheat or raise my heart rate too much -- which limited me to walking/swimming and some pre-natal yoga.
My asthma also stopped me, too.

Re: Working out while pregnant
When I have the energy and feel ok, I run 3-4 miles. I take it much slower than I did pre-pregnancy. I have a few friends who ran through part of the 3rd trimester. Just listen to your body.

I kept my workout routine, just lowered the weights, no jumping and no abs after the first trimester. I did spin, kickboxing(modified), boot camps, weight training, running, modified yoga.

Re: Working out while pregnant
I wish I felt well enough to exercise!!
I was running 5K's and hiking up a 3,800 ft. volcano until I found out...
and now I am so sick, I can't even get myself to walk because I just feel nauseous 24/7. People say exercising will make you feel better, but I can't even fathom it right now.
Walking, Walking on Inclines, Squats, Lunges and Prenatal Yoga are all supposed to be very good exercise when pregnant.

Re: Working out while pregnant
I lowered the intensity (and weights) of my pre-pregnancy work out. But now in the 3rd trimester I'm too big/tired/heavy/out of breath than to do more than walk for 30 minutes with a 10 minute full body stretch after

Re: Working out while pregnant
Yes and I plan to continue. I know it will also help with L&D. I am doing cardio and strength training now as well as planks. No more sit ups or crunches. As I get bigger I will modify per my doctor.

Re: Working out while pregnant
First off, Congrats!!!
I just started Zumba again this week (mainly because the girl I went to was opening up a new studio)
I don't go as crazy as I used to. When they jump I don't. Things like that. I feel great after it.

Re: Working out while pregnant
I was told you can do whatever you did prior to pregnancy.
Pre pregnancy I ran 20-25 miles a week and I am still doing that now and did in my 3rd trimester with my DD. I also do 2 days of weight training. I listen to my body. When I'm not feeling it or something feels off I do something else. Talk to your doctor and use your best judgement.
Congrats!
