Working moms...especially teachers

I have been home since the end of Oct. and I can't believe I only have 2 weeks left. DD will be watched by family, so that should make it easier, but it's not. I don't know how I'm going to do it!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I know what you mean. I had one month less with my son than my daughter so I am really not ready to go back and to leave him at a center yet. Breaks my heart.

Everyday of August has been like a Sunday for meChat Icon

I want to be a SAHM so bad, but it is not an option at this point in our lives. Even though I was back to work 8 weeks after she was born, this summer was a tease.
But thankfully we have half again before Sept. is over!!!

Re: Working moms...especially teachers

Aww, it sux....I dont want to go back either, and I have only had the summer off. Everyone is different, and some people adjust really well to going back to work. I never really did....I thought about him ALL day long, and I missed him so much. It's really horrible that so many of us have to go back to workChat Icon I feel your pain..for me, it really didnt get better, BUT it did get easier, if that makes any senseChat Icon

I thought that last september was hard leaving a 5 month old, but now I feel so much more bonded to my little girl and I actually cried at our last gym class this week!

Re: Working moms...especially teachers

Been home since November and I basically cry everyday at the thought of not being with my baby all day - starting in just a few short weeks. All I keep thinking is how much time he spends sleeping for those hours that I will be at work.....that makes it a little (a very little) bit easier.

I agree with this. It does get easier because you fall into a routine. But I cried every Sunday and a lot of times in the car on the way to work. I dont feel the need to get "adult time" that many other people talk about. I want all my time to be DD.

Re: Working moms...especially teachers

I went back to work 10 weeks after the twins were born. That was hard, but I have to say, being a SAHM is really hard! I have struggled with it all summer and in some ways, am looking forward to going back and getting into a routine!

BTA, talk to me in October! LOL.....

I wish I could work part-time and be able to swing it! But DH works on comission and some years it is really good and others, not so much!

Re: Working moms...especially teachers

I have been going throughthis for a week now. I have my good days and my bad days. My DS will be with family so it makes my feeling about going back to work a little easier. I know it will be hard for a couple of days but once I am back into a routine I will be okay. We will support each other during this time.

Re: Working moms...especially teachers

I'm not a teacher so I had to go back after 12 weeks. It's really hard and I don't think it will ever get easier for me. She's in daycare so I know she's getting a lot out of her day. I couldn't put up with the struggles of having family watch her, but that's personal opinion. I spend as much time as I can with her in the evenings and on weekends. Make the best of it and know that your contributing to your family. I know for me I look at all the things I want to do with her as she grows and I know those things all cost money (swim classes, gymnastics classes, little girl spa stuff, etc)... but I don't ever want to tell her we cant do something like those things b/c of money. It's different if it goes against my values, but if it's something worthwhile... I want her to have the world at her feet. The only way that will happen will be if I work and we have 2 incomes.
