Working & pumping moms

How often do you pump at work? I'm starting a new job next week and while I will be working weekend nights I have to orient for a week during the day from 8-5. Not sure if I'll have the opportunity to pump more than just my lunch hour but just wanted to get an idea of what everyone else's schedule is like.

I started off pumping 2x/day.... 10:00 and 2:00.

In the mornings before work, I'd BF at 5.

This worked out until DS started to need more ounces than I was producing during that time.

Now I BF at 5, and pump 3x at work: 7:30, 10:30 and 1:30. During that time I get at least 16 ounces total, often 18.. and have gotten as many as 20 ounces.

I am out of the house from 8:30AM-7PM. I pump 3x/day at the office and once in the morning. I always do the morning session (work days or weekends). With my first DS, I did 5x/day (morning, 3x work and before bed) but I don't have the energy for that this time, and it isn't really necessary.

You should pump for every feeding your missing during your work day to maintain your supply.

Good question! I am returning to work in a few weeks and currently BF every 3-4 hours at home (sometimes every 2 hours).

I was thinking to pump every 3-4 hours at work so at least 2 times, but maybe 3 times. Like 10am, 1pm, 4pm? I don't get much at all when I pump now (I try to pump once a day) so I just hope I produce enough for DS to have the next day.

This will be my schedule when I go back:

5:00 am - home
8:30 am - work (before start)
10:30 am - work
1:30 pm - work
4:30 pm - work
8:30 pm - home


This is what I am hoping to keep up with.

This is my sked:

5:30 a.m.
Leave house 6:30
1:00 p.m. pump at work
10:00 p.m. pump at home

In the beginning I'd pump again around 5:30 when I got home from work.
