Workers in your house when you're not home...
After getting nowhere this weekend ourselves, we have to hire painters to do 2 bedrooms. House is basically empty and we live in the city so my question is do most people give them a key to do work while you're not there? We haven't changed the locks yet but are planning to do that right before we move in...

If the house is empty/you have not moved in yet and plan to change the locks, I probably would let them work while no one was home.
If you were moved in/had valuables there/etc., I wouldn't in most cases.

We had the painters there alone before we moved in. There was nothing in the house for them to take or for us to be concerned with.

If you haven't changed the locks yet and your house is empty, it's the best time to do it.
You can change the locks after they are done.
