Work Perdicament. Please Help!

I am so confused what to do right now.
We all HATE my boss, many of you may know about her already. She is CRAZY and nasty and a very hostile unhappy person.

Well, I just got offered a waitressign job at the bar we always go to. (They also have food and stuff)

Supposedly I shoudl pretty much make what I am making now in 3 days. I work 5 now.

I am going Tuesday to train.

What should I do? Ask Rose (my boss) if I can just work less and still take a couple shifts a week (extra money cant hurt)
or just quit?

I am DEATHLY afraid to quit on this woman! I would of course give my two weeks... (and the servers who is leaving just gave her two weeks, so i wouldnt start for another two weeks as it is) but my boss is CRAZY and i live next door to the store so if i had to see her everyday and she hates me it would be so akward. But not to mention, I just feel bad leaving her before Christmas. (even though she was just saying how she wants one of us to go so she can hire this new girl she intereviewd)

Anywya, I am at a loss. What would you guys do?

Personally, if I hated this woman that much, I would quit the job, give her the 2 weeks notice and then cut ties. She doesn't sound like she is too much fun to work for. Good luck at your new job.

Re: Work Perdicament. Please Help!

If it were me, I would tell her my situation and stress that I NEED more $$$ (even if it is a little white lie.)

See what she says about working a few less shifts, so that you can take the better paying job.

Her reaction should give you an answer either way.

I think I'd quit too. Doesn't sound at all like a pleasant environment. CAN you work the new job 5 days/week, or is it only 3 days?

I would quit, and tell her, Now you can hire the girl you interviewed! Why should you stay in a place where you are not happy! You dont need that stress. I have followed your boss stories, and honestly I wouldve been out of there a looooong time ago!

I agree I would give my 2 weeks notice and go. Even with your new job you are not garunteed to make the same $$ but you can always work more shifts if you don't make enough in 3 days right?
Besides she is said herself she wants someone to leave so she can hire this new person she interviewed ( she must feel that you are unhappy and are going to be leaving or why would she be interviewing people?!?!)

I would quit too. I have followed your boss stories too and now's an opportunity for you to get out of there. I wouldn't worry about running into her cuz she's next door, ya know? and for her to now want one of you to leave so she can bring in a new girl? well, now she canChat Icon
best of luck to youChat Icon

Re: Work Perdicament. Please Help!

thansk everyone. i really appreciate it.
thanks for all of teh support.

i am going to do alittle training on Tuesday and see how i like it and all. i havent waitressed in a few years so it will tkae some getting use to.

right now it would only be 3 shifts (Fri, Sat & Sun), but someone is leaving at hte end of December, so more shifts will open up.

I figure maybe i can stay as Xmas help at the store for now if she doesnt want me.

I guess I will just see how it goes on Tuesday and then see what happens.

Thank you all so very muchChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Work Perdicament. Please Help!

IMO i would ask for less hours first...
Just as a fall back if you end up hating the waitressing...

Keep both for a bit and when you feel secure with the new job...quit the shop

Re: Work Perdicament. Please Help!

Definitely take less hours at this job and see how waitressing goes for you...if it is the great $$ you have been promised. Don't leave your job now on a bad note in case you ever need to go back or just want it for part time...Good LuckChat Icon
