Wooden Swing Sets

Do you have one? Did you get it from TRU, Costco, Constructive Playthings or Gorilla? How has it held up? Do your kids play with it? Are there things you would or would not get?

I was thinking of getting:
A slide
Two swings
A glider
A fort
Climbing wall

Is there anything you would add or take away from this list? Would you purchase the same brand you currently have?

We have a set on order from Wood Kingdom East in Coram. The WK East & West stores have different owners & sales, but you might want to check them out too.

We don't have it yet, so I can't really comment on the quality or how much ds will play with it (he's 2 1/2), but it's going to have all of the features that you mentioned along with a sandbox under the playdeck/fort. The fort is also going to have a steering wheel & a telescope up there. I can't wait to get it!

When Emily turned 4 my FIL and Mom/Dad split the cost of a wooden swingset for her from TRU.

It was about $500 --- one of their cheaper models. They insisted on this one --- well, mostly FIL did....it was a good price for them all to split the cost of it and they didn't want DH and I to have to put any money in for it.

In hindsight it has worked just fine, but I don't know how long it will last. The wood is poor quality, it creaks so much when she's swinging high on it, and she's only 6.5. I would have wanted her to still be able to use it when she is 10-12...even just for swinging, and now we have DC2 on the way and I want to make sure that it lasts for a while.

We'd have been better off putting a few hundred of our own in and getting a cheaper model from a better place IMO...OH well, you live and learn!
