Wine Vineyards

I am looking to go with my husband to the north shore wine vineyards for my birthday this month. We have never done it before so I know nothing about it lol

any suggestions? which places should we go to? where is a nice place to go to lunch? I would love if they had cheese pairing or desserts with the tasting and maybe somewhere nice to sit outside

Any info would be greatChat Icon

Re: Wine Vineyards

All the vineyards I have visited on the north fork have outside tables/chairs, or green lawns for picnics.

There reallly is no bad vineyard. Just drive down 25A and stop at the gazillion along with the way. I've heard Pindar is nice, but it's further out east than the others.

Re: Wine Vineyards

If the weather is nice I can suggest two that DH and I went to last year that were amazing just for their outdoor settings alone. The Sherwood House and The Old Field Vineyard. Both have really nice outdoor settings. Sherwood house had a fire going which made it nice in the evening.

I suggest bringing your own cheese and fruit. A lot of the places offer them, but it's usually a hunk of cheese on a plastic plate. You can make it so much more.

Bring folding chairs because a lot of places have areas you can relax outside, most have bands come the nicer months.

I went on the liwines.com website and they sent me a good touring brochure.

Re: Wine Vineyards

Martha Clara is fun... they're always doing demos and pairings. And there is indoor and outdoor seating so you can bring a picnic (this is with most places though).

Re: Wine Vineyards

I LOVE going wine tasting!

Pindar has a GREAT selection to taste from - and many times have 1 or 2 free seasonal tastings.

The tasting room and grounds in general at Raphael are just breath taking! Highly recommend that place.

Martha Clara has really great areas both inside and outside to sit and enjoy food. A lot of times they have entertainment going on as well.

Friends have said that Bedell is amazing as well. I've visited so many out there and have never been disappointed with any choice!

Check out this brochure and it has a map with it showing you the names and locations of most of the vineyards out there: Link

Bring a basket and cooler with your own veggies, dip, fruit, cheese, etc. If you want to check out cheese--the Love Lane Cheese Shop has just about EVERY freaking cheese imaginable from all around the world. You could get all the food you want to bring all set and then head there to find the right cheese & crackers to go with everything -- they let you taste all the cheeses before you buy. Then you can head next door to the Love Lane Sweet Shop - and grab some yummies to enjoy after the picnic!

When you go into the tasting room--they will have "flights" prepared.

A flight is a list of wines that you can taste from anywhere between $4 and $9. Usually you get at least 3 wines per flight, and they will many times have a white wine flight, red wine flight, and sometimes an upgraded assorted flight that is more in the $7-9 range. Most places have their flights go for $4-7 per person and you get anywhere between 3-5 tastings.
