Wine Drinkers...Come in please
What is your favorite wine? My DH and FIL love to sit down and have a glass of wine once in a while. I am not a drinker. Please tell me your favorite. I want to get him a gift for Christmas!
Thank You so much!

Do they like white or red? What price range?
I used to work for a Wine Distributing company, so I have tons of suggestions!

Re: Wine Drinkers...Come in please
I only like whites.
I like Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc best.
I hate chardonnay
I'm not really loyal to any specific brand- I do like to buy LI wines though.

I enjoy Yellowtail Shiraz/Grenache but I just bought a huge amount of wine from wine.com and look forward to trying them all shortly...I just had a baby and need to relax!

White- Winter White by Pindar
Red- Ducale by Ruffino
Neither are very expensive but not super cheap..I think @ $16 for a bottle.

Re: Wine Drinkers...Come in please
Depending on how much you want to spend:
Cakebread makes a delicious Chardonnay
Clos du Val (not to be mistaken for Clos du Bois) - also a great Chardonnay.
Pinot Gris from Oregon are also quite good.
For reds:
Again, Pinot Noirs from Oregon are great.
Zinfandel: Ravenswood makes a good one at different price points.
Antinori: Chianti
LOVE Argentiniean Malbecs
I like LI whites as an everyday white (hate the reds from LI) but not really a special occasion white. I do like Wolffer though.
ETA: I do not like sweeter wines - I tend to like drier wines so my recommentdations are along those lines. Not to generalize but most men I know do not like sweet wines.

Re: Wine Drinkers...Come in please
I'm a big reisling fan and my absolute favorite is a brand called RELAX. Its cheap and even comes complete with a twist off cap (very classy, I know) but whenever we have people over they love it too, its sooo delicious!

We like pretty much anything from Robert Mondavi. For pinot grigio, I like Santa Margarita.

Re: Wine Drinkers...Come in please
Whites:
Fume Blancs or Pouilly Fusse-these are white burgundys and are nice this time of year. Also in the same category are Sancerres.
Cabernets: Rodney Strong, Hess, Sequoia Grove (all time favorite), Charles Krug. If you want to really spend, Stags Leap, Cakebread.
Chateuneuef de Pape is a nice French varietal that goes with everything or all by itself. Lighter than a cab but full bodied.
Pinot Noir-Schug and anything from the Russian River Valley. I like Mark West too.
Believe it or not Mumm Brut is a very nice inexpensive champagne/sparkling wine for New Years.
