We have Levelor cellular shades (which I love and there's no cord) and will be putting up a decorative valance.

Same here. We may put up sheers too. We'll see how it looks with the valence and then decide.

We have wooden blinds and I plan on putting up a valance with panels that will help darken the room.

Thanks ladies! I definitely want to be able to black out the room for sleeping purposes too. We only have one large window in the room.
