Window Tinting
Has anyone done this?
Our bedroom and living room face west so after 12 as the sun starts making it's way towards setting we get a lot of light through our sliders. I have bamboo shades with a tight weave which gives privacy at night and light control during the day when I need it (it's the worst when the sun is actually setting) but I am looking for something that will reduce glare and also help reduce the heat. It's FL and the sun is strong!
I'm just worried about it making it look too dark outside - like gloomy. I don't have many windows in my townhome so my sliders are just about the only view to outside on the first floor.
Anyone do this in their home?
Thanks!

Re: Window Tinting
My parents had it done to their Florida house...more for privacy reasons as the back windows are basically glass walls
You would never even know that it was tinted from the inside!

Re: Window Tinting
we put a window film on our storm door. It works great. We bought it at Lowes and applied it ourselves. From the inside you don't really notice it, but when looking at the house from the outside the door window is alot darker then the other windows.

Re: Window Tinting
I did not know this was even an option. I have the same issue. Something I will look into. Who would do this? I don't think DH and I could apply it ourselves. I couldn't even apply the clear coating on my ipod straight! Thanks!

you know i was thinking the same thing! i know for windows you can apply it yourself - but my sliding doors in the LR are each 45wide by 96 tall and i don't think they sell sheets that large i can't imagine trying to put them on ourselves...
did i mention i have 0 patience

We have the same size doors! I think I would kill someone if I had to do it myself or even worse with DH! LOL

Re: Window Tinting
I just googled residential window tinting in my area and a few places popped up with free estimates. I think Im going to give them a call. One site said "Tinting is an art" LOL
