Window Coverings-- energy efficiency

Anyone put a covering on the outside of your windows for energy efficiency-- keep out heat, etc.

We have a room where the wall/ceiling is all windows-- a solarium, and I'd like to put something on them since the room gets very hot.

they sell window treatments that are lined but I don't think you will want to cover up the windows that much.

You can do have them professionally tinted. There is a big difference between car tint and home tint. The only issue that I have ever heard about this, is it causes a reflection on the outside and birds tend to fly into the windows a lot more Chat Icon

ETA: I don't like the look of the tint at dawn and dusk because it causes the effect that you cant see out but people can see in.

From the people who told me about it-- it's something you don't see at all and is not tinted, but it helps to keep the warmth of the sun out so you don't use as much AC.
