Will my dr give me a note?
Tomorrow will be my last day of work bc I decided to begin my leave. I'm having lots of pressure and difficulty walking. I am a teacher and need a note from my dr. My appointment is tomorrow and I have never met this particular dr yet. I am 39 weeks so I can't understand why he wouldn't just give me one. Did anyone ever have difficulty getting a note? I'm hoping he doesn't make this hard

Many Drs wont sign you out unless it is medically necessary.

Really?? Even if I tell him I can barely get around at work and coming home in so much pain?? I will be so mad!

At 39 weeks I'm pretty sure they will sign you out. All of the girls at my job are always signed out by 37/38 weeks

I hope the Dr. gives you a note. If you are in pain and are on your feet all day I do not see why he wouldn't.
I will tell you though at 39 weeks my sister's Dr. would not give her a note and she is a teacher. She told her she had at least 2 weeks to go and would not write her a note. Well guess what she went into labor the same night and had her baby the next day!

I hope they give you one, but also consider that your ins might not cover you leaving early unless they also derm it medically necessary.
For DS#1, I was put out two weeks before my EDD by midwife. I called my STD ins co and they ok'd it over the phone but denied the claim when they rec'd the paperwork because "discomfort from preg is not an illness". My ins co gave us 4-5 reasons they'd cover early STD due to preg: pre eclampsia, early labor/contractions, inability to drive, Etc.
And then DS was nearly 2wks late, so I had 4wks without pay - and my co wouldn't cover my regular benefits during that time because, per policy, I wad technically on an 'unapproved absence'.
After the baby arrived, I fought it and was able to get them to cover from my EDD forward due to contractions, but I still tell people to be very careful....

My ob asked me at 38 weeks if I wanted a note. I'm sure at 39 weeks they will let you have one..complain a lot!
