Will I hate myself in 5 years...
...if I throw out the cards from the baby shower? I mean realistically, do I need to keep them? Maybe just the ones from the grandparents. I'm trying to not be a clutter queen, and oh man is that rough!! I mean seriously, where would I put them anyway? There is baby shower stuff all over the place, from like a month ago, and I need to either figure something out, or throw it all in a box to deal with at a much later date.
Could this possibly be the beginning of nesting? Or have I just watched too much HGTV today

That and my wedding/bridal shower cards are probably the only ones I would keep. I put my wedding ones in a photo album in a box with all of our wedding related stuff. I'll probably start a baby box for DS and put that in there along with the paper from the day he was born, a onesie from the hospital, etc.

Re: Will I hate myself in 5 years...
and this is only the begining of it all....
What about all the cards when LO arrives, all the 1st holidays... oh and of course don't forget the 1st birthday....
It's never ending.
dont know what the solution is... but for the time being - I purchased a large storage bin, and have been putting items such as these, and 1st costume, 1st shoes... etc anything that I thought I would want to see again - in this bin. My thought is when this bin is filled, I will go through and make some desiciions then. DD is 18 months and the bin is barely half full.
Hope this helps

I am a HUGE saver. This is the only way I have gotten a little control over it. I give myself a certain container or amount of space, and when it is filled, I force myself to go through it and purge what I don't want/need anymore. I even do this with magazines, catalogs, and coupons. It has helped me, tremendously. For DS, I have a great box from Janie and Jack that someone gave me a baby gift in. I have all of my baby shower and congratulations cards in it in his closet.

Re: Will I hate myself in 5 years...
didn't save weddings ones, won't be saving baby shower ones. That why we requested books instead of cards so Lo will have books and he can see who bought them for him inside

Re: Will I hate myself in 5 years...
I toss it all, I can't imagine holding onto all that stuff for years. I can't imagine DS being too upset about not having his baby shower cards

Re: Will I hate myself in 5 years...
CHUCK EM!!! Keep the sentimental few from close relatives, but throw the rest away...thats what I did with my wedding cards, it was hard at first, but if you think of all the events you are going to have in your life, LO's life etc, theres no way you could keep them all...jmo!
