Will a facial help with my acne?
My skin is out of control!! I see a derm but nothing is working right now and I feel like the more I stress it, the worse its getting. When I was waxing my eyebrows the lady asked me if I wanted a Facial cause it would really help with my skin. It wasnt in a way to sell me the facial it was just in a conversational way.. It got me thinking that maybe I should try it, I feel like I have tried everything!!!!

Unless you go for facials regularly it's not going to help much.

id be willing to go regularly if it worked i guess.. after all im paying in meds and copays id rather invest in weekly facials LOL

I go to Stephanie at The Skin Clinic. She's been doing a series of peels on me. I definitely feel as if it's been helping.
She's a vendor on here - try giving her a call.... She's located in Huntington. Bonus for me is Crumbs is on the way.

I had problems years ago. I wouldn't suggest anything on a weekly basis, monthly. I would also suggest to ask the esthetician what product line she uses and try and go with as natural product as possible.
I also used Murad and Christine Valmay - as well - face wash and moisturizer. Avoid super expensive moisitiurizers, they can have hormones in them and they are not listed on the packaging (this is currently under FDA review). I used a generic toner- diluted with water and got into a strict skin care regimen. Every morning, after working out (or getting really sweaty - beach, etc.) and in the evening - wash, toner, moisturizer. Also, what kind of make up are you wearing (foundation?).? I switched to Bare Minerals because it didn't clog my pores.

ive been struggling with acne for years
skip the facials.
instead, find a "cosmetic dermotologist" not just a regular one.
i found one near me and she did a glycolic acid peel on me. she also will do extractions for you, just like a facialist will.
she also injected my big zits with a steroid.
then, she gave me at home peels to do 1x a week. they were $60 for 6 peels, and i cut them into 4's.
she also hooked me up with samples.
my favorite has been aczone topical gel - it worked wonders. i am going to fill out the RX today actually.
my coworker just asked me why my skin looked so good (she knows ive been suffering with awful acne)
anyway i know how it feels and good luick

You might want to also get some bloodwork done -- I developed some food allergies a few years ago and that just killed my skin. As soon as we figured out my allergies and I stopped eating those foods, my skin cleared up -- seriously, like in a matter of days. I now have nothing more than a minor passing skin issue, usually hormonal or stress related and I can totally deal with normal things like that.
Also, how long have you been using topical dermatologist stuff? It can take weeks to several months to really see a difference, and sometimes it gets worse first.

Thanks so much for all the recs girls. I think my acne is getting worse due to recent stress and perhaps my lack of exercise? I have been in a rut and I think its making it worse. When I was working out at the beginning of the yr my face was so clear, could there be a connection? I think I need some type of skin regimen and I dont know where to begin in starting one. I basically used the benzaclynn the derm gives me but thats all..
