Why does my cat do this?
My two year old cat insists on coming into bed at ungodly hours of the morning and gets right in either DH or my face, taps us lightly but annoyingly with his paw until we open our eyes, or if we don't comply, he will purr loudly and nuzzle our eyelids and lick our faces until we awake. He did this to me three times. If I try to turn over, he taps my back. If I open my eyes and pet him, he is okay. If I close my eyes again, there he goes.
I thought it was cute when he did it to DH-now I am his new victim.
It is not a hunger thing because he has a full bowl of food and even when we got up to feed him, the second we go back to bed, the tapping starts again.
So weird...hmm

Re: Why does my cat do this?
My cats do things like this sometimes too.. Honestly, I'm not an expert but I have had cats for the past 3 years..... and based on my experience, I think they just like the attention
My two are so spoiled, I could NEVER get mad at them...... even when one of them woke me a few days ago EARLY by standing on my chest until I opened my eyes I just wake up and look at those tiny faces and melt
My kids are going to be so spoiled!

Re: Why does my cat do this?
Cats are nocturnal.. Dominick does this when hes bored or his fat *** is hungry.. When I turn my back he gets annoyed and jumps off the bed to go run around like a lunatic in the living room.
The most annoying thing he does which is not too often is slinky behind my bed sticks his paw in between the opening of the headboard and mattress and swat at my head.. Little PR*** and then runs...

Cats are nocturnal- they sleep all day and want to play at night. He probably wants you to play with him. This is why I keep my bedroom door shut!

Re: Why does my cat do this?
my Persian cat does this
it starts out nice- then it you don't respond he starts tapping harder, on your eyelid etc
his food bowl is normally full...I think it's just for attention
we have tried locking him out- this results is loud "killing" of toys outside our door
meanwhile when I am not sleeping- he barely gives me the time of day
sometimes we tap him in the face when he is sleeping just to annoy him...

one of my cats does this too....it's so annoying (but I love her anyway). The only thing that works is putting my head under the blanket so she can't get to my face. That usually works although sometimes i feel like I can't breathe. I also think it is for attention.

Re: Why does my cat do this?
my cat acts in a similar fashion. He comes to bed after the TV goes off and we are out. He LOVES DH. so he nuzzles him all night, purring. He picks a spot and then minutes later he is up looking for another spot. he licks DHs mouth., nose, eyelids, armpits, he also pushes his head into Dhs hands, and he does this to me as well. he ends up finding a spot snuggled in between us or in DHs arms but then after and hour or 2 he is up again. DH complains he cant sleep (but i sleep fine most of the time, because he doesnt do it to me LOL)

Re: Why does my cat do this?
My Fitzpatrick does the same thing. Every night we have a ritual where he jumps on the bed, I make room for him by my pillow and we have a petting fest for a while. It's very cute until 2:30 or 3 am when he starts pawing my face, licking me, nudging me and jumping on my bladder to get me to pet him again. He's very OCD and needy and I think it is habit I need to break. My DH has no problem pushing him away and that works but I'm a softie.
