Re: why do you need a full bladder for
I've heard some people do for the Level II...but I didn't. Thankfully. I would be doubled over in pain if I had to do that.

Re: why do you need a full bladder for
They never told me to do that so I didn't, but I have heard others say they were asked to do it for their Level II. Mine was actually the opposite...3/4 way throught my Level II, I was asked to go empty my bladder and come back.

Re: why do you need a full bladder for
I never did. In the first trimester if you don't get an internal ultrasound they need you to have a full bladder, but mine did internals. After that point you have enough amniotic fluid to transmit the picture so you don't need a full bladder. During my 20 week u/s that was really long, they even stopped halfway so I could empty what built up.

Re: why do you need a full bladder for
When I went for my ultrascreen they didn't ask me to have a full bladder but I did refrain from going just in case and I was glad I did because I have a tilted uterus so it would have been more difficult for the tech had my bladder been empty.

Same here, when you have a tilted or retroverted uterus you need the water.

Me too! And they made me wait in the waiting room for like 30 minutes before one of my sonos The sono tech asked me to "half-empty"-- right, like I can stop the flow once it starts So I fully emptied and was fine-- she said I was well hydrated so I didn't need the water.

Re: why do you need a full bladder for
Because they are sadists.
With my first I went right in so it wasn't so bad. With my second I had to wait almost an hour past my appt time, so I told them I had to go to the bathroom, I couldn't wait any longer. They let me go a little, and they they did whatever they needed the full bladder for right away, let me go again, and then I went in and they did a lot more after that.
