Why do the formula checks have our names on them?

Why do the formula checks have our names on them?
And do you white out your name if you pass it on to someone? Do they check if you are the person using it? Sorry for the silly question.

They are supposedly non-transferable. Some places do check the names against your drivers license. BRU always checked mine, but target and costco never looked.

I've wondered the same thing...I've been giving all the "checks" to one of my good friends and she's simply been handing them to the girl at the check out and treating them like a coupon.
I think they're "fishing" for us to start using their formula. I know I must have signed up for something letting someone know that I am BF'ing because I get so much mail with statements like, "We know you're breastfeeding now, but if you should need to supplement with formula please use ours so here's a coupon." I think our names are on them so they can "trace" when we first start to use the coupon - I assume that when one or more of the checks/coupons is redeemed, we're removed from the list they send coupons to. At that point they'll know we're "hooked" and will pay full price with or without the coupon.
But this is just my theory....I could be completely wrong.

Some have that i had gotten have name on them and some dont. I think they put it on there b/c its technically a check. When I send to someone if i remember i cross out my name. Some places check for id, i know one lady at the BRU in westbury always checks so i dont go to her register.  I usually go to a young male cashier, they never check.

i have never had a problem and dont think anyone i gave them to did either. I guess it depends on the place

My DH has been buying similac when he does the food shopping. The formula checks we got are in my name and he has not had a problem with BRU in Bohemia or Costco in Holbrook.
