Why do people say don't worry about it- if- Updated!
you really need to worry about it
perfect example- my car has been at the body shop since June 13th
I only get 30 days with a rental
I TOLD them I needed my car back by the 13th of July
they told me "not to worry about it"
well- now I am 4 days over and my car wont be done till next week
I ask the lady that works there what they are going to do to fix this- and her answer is nothing, I am going to have to pay out of pocket
not a big deal to her- but it is to me
I am so mad

because they're stupid! 
sorry you have to deal with this- you've given them more than enough time to fix whatever they need to- they should reimburse you any extra $ that you have to shell out for the rental car

Is this a body shop that was recommended by the insurance company?
If so I would let the insurance company know that their body shop is screwing up and demand that you need additional time with the rental coverage.
Of course if you picked the body shop out yourself, different story.

Is that lady the manager? If not, ask to speak to the manager. If she is the manager, ask to speak to the owner. Demand that they pay for it -- You gave them ample notice of the date by which you needed the car back AND told them WHY. They assured you it would be ready. It wasn't. THEIR fault. I'd continue to fight with them about it, but not with that woman.

even better- Jake's friend is the owner
but I have been dealing with them since it was my car
Jake is calling his friend now
BUT- my insurace company MESSED up the checks
they sent them to my Dad's old house that we sold 4 years ago- instead of the address on my polcey
so it's a little bit of everyones fault
but my car is common- while Jake's car is not- and they managed to fix his faster- that makes me mad

Update-
So Jake calls today and now my car is going to be ready by tuesday
what a miracle
did the woman at the office think I wasn't going to complain to my husband about the car not being done
we have seriously given this shop at least $30K worth of business personally in the last 3 months- not including referals
I should be able to get the same answer as my husband- come on
when Jake calls- they jump- I want the same respect- even if I am half his size and not scary!
oh- and they are paying us back for the extra week on the rental!

I never give real dates when I need something done by, I always build in a buffer. If I needed it done by the 13th, I would have told them I needed it on the 8th.

I was told 2 weeks- max 3 b/c of the 4th of July-
3 weeks was the 4th
the claims adjuster didn't come for a week -
the 13th was the drop dead final date b/c of the rental
I had no reason not to believe them-

When my truck took longer than the rental period to be repaired (there was a ton of damage), the shop just reimbursed me for the overage on the rental....no questions asked.
I assumed that was standard procedure.

I assumed that also- esp when dealing with a friend
they are going to pay for it now- but only after Jake stepped in
that makes me mad
my car had no front- end damage- just the whole drivers side was smashed- thanks to the school bus that hit it
and I needed a new front tire- how hard can that be- I got one in an hour once after I got a flat!
when Jake's car went over by a few days- I bought the rental back b/c we really didn't need it (we can share my car- but I can't drive Jake's- it's a stick)
she told me I didn't have to do that - they would have taken care of it
so why was this situation any different?
