Whole milk or low fat for a 2 year old

Of course, I forgot to ask the ped at the 2 year visit yesterday and there is conflicting info online.

DS is at 50%ile for height and weight if that matters.

Just wondering what the consensus is before I call tomorrow.

My doctor never mentioned it when Lily turned 2, but she's always been pretty skinny.
I'd check with the doctor to be sure.

My 2 year old is also 50%ile. I asked if I could switch to low fat milk at 2 and he said I could even do skim because there is no need for the extra milk fat. I give her skim milk. I still give her plenty of fats, but healthy fats and not saturated fats.

we switched DD over to skim once she hit two... I did buy a couple of quarts of 2% then 1% before the switch though... it was easier for us to switch so we could all just drink the same milk...

I would double check with your dr. but at our 2 yr visit ~ the dr said she would like to see him on skim ~ No need for the extra milk fat ~ so I figured going from whole to skim might be noticed ~ I went from 2%, 1%, skim but I change it up from time to time. I usually buy whichever one has the best date on the carton.

We actually went for DS 2yr on Tues and the Dr said 1% or lower. We drink Fat Free so that is what he is drinking now.

DS eats a lot of cheese and yogurt so we switched to skim - but since DD is on milk too now, he's drinking whole again. I would definitely take the rest of his diet into consideration.

I give her 2%. I'll probably switch to eier 1% or skim after her 3yr appt in June.
