Who pulls out the carpet when you refinish wood floors
We have nice oak flooring underneath the wall to wall carpet the previous owners put EVERYwhere, anyway, are there any floor ppl that will remove the old carpet before they refinish the wood floors? Or is this something I'm going to have to find a separate pp to do? I'm pregnant and DH works all the time so we can't do this ourselves...

The guys who did the floors pulled it up, I think they charged us $25 per room.

I had 2 rooms done 2 years ago and I am having 1 room done this week
With both companies - we had to do it and pull all the staples up from the floor
Just a heads up as I am pg also - the smell is so horrible you are going to have to sleep elsewhere for a night or 2

We pulled out the carpet ourselves. They only had carpeting in 2 rooms plus a hallway runner, the whole house was hardwood. It was easy but again we only had to pull up a little bit.
And yes, the smell is horrendous. I was 7 months pregnant and we had to stay out of the house for 1 entire week. It was dreadful, the smell could quickly give you a headache, we were taking no chances.

Our floor guys would have done it for an additional charge. When we moved into our house we did it ourselves tho, it was a place we could save $ cause it was easy to do.
If you have a couple of friends who could help DH, you could have it up in in just a couple hours... then you can take the staples out after. If not, your floor guys will definitely be able to do it for you for an additional fee!

Those of you that mentioned the smell, you mean just from pulling up the carpet alone??
i know the smell of refinishing the floors is going to keep me out of the house but we were thinking to rip the carpet out ahead of time (this weekend if DH gets FIL to help him), will it be that bad??

we did...it didn't smell pulling up the carpet (actaully smelled better because the carpet was gross they must have had animals!) but the stain def smells
