Who has a dual-flush toilet?
With all the bathroom remodels I figure some must have them by now so I have a few questions.
1) I can't find info on the size of the valve and/or trap. Is this not important in these types?
2) It says the lower water volume is for "liquid waste" but does that include toilet paper? Or is this just feature used just by the men?
3) There seem to be a bunch of different volumes on the lower flush side. Ranging from 0.8gpf to 1.2gpf. With this much of a difference, do you think the 0.8 is really effective, especially if you're using paper as well?
4) I just read that because of the lower volume per flush, that there may be problems with odor in the toilet. Has anybody experienced this?
Sorry if some of these questions seem stupid, but I'm really considering getting one but am pretty clueless on this topic.
TIA!

They really should call it the Number 1 and 2 button if you know what I mean.
If I ever buy another house I would change all the toilets over to a dual flush or the Australian model dual flush toilet.
Also change my dishwasher over to the Dishdrawer which uses less then 2 gallons of water when using the eco-setting and ASKO washing machine that uses less then 6 gallons.
That's if I have a house with a cesspool.

Re: Who has a dual-flush toilet?
With our current reno, we are getting a dual-flush for the new bathroom. It's a .8/1.6 gal flush.
I'm looking at the Toto brand from Consumer's Warehouse in Bohemia.
Dual flush toilet
or the Sterling brand version
I don't see how there could be an odor problem. The toilet is designed to prevent sewer gas from coming back up, and everything gets cleaned out when you flush, it's just a matter of how much water you use to flush. Everything else is pretty much the same. A reasonable amount of paper still counts as "1". If DC put in half a roll of paper, then you'll need the "2" button.
We'll eventually replace all our toilets with these, and we should be able to save several thousand gallons of water a year.

I have one, but I live an apartment. I couldn't tell you exact specifics, but I can say the flush that isn't as strong works quite well and there is no odour.
I have a Caroma, which is a very popular brand where I live.
