Which Stroller? update: Color?

I know this has probably been talked about before, but I am so confused about what stroller to register for. A family member offered to buy me the Uppababy Vista. However, a friend told me it's a waste of money and I am better off with a Citi Mini because it's lighter and easier for the car. I am torn because the Uppa is fantastic and I like the seat much better, but at the same time, I am always on the go, in and out of my car. The Uppa is perfect for city living, but what about the suburbs? I don't want to have it bought for me, then never use it because it's too much of a hassle.

I appreciate the help. Chat Icon

update: OK, ladies. You've all convinced me to go for the UppaBaby.

Which color do you all have?

Which Stroller?

I think we're going to go with the UppaBaby Vista. I've probably polled every random person I have ever come across who I see with a stroller and I've been to BBB like 5 times and pushed every stroller they have around the store. There are times I think the UppaBaby is going to be way too much stroller out here in the burbs but I would rather have it than get something else and regret it.

Which Stroller?

My friend had it and loved it. However be forewarned it's big and getting it in and out of the car will be a PITA. That new big fancy stroller and new parent thing wears off quick Chat Icon. My friend moved onto a City Mini and loved it. Stopped using her Uppa after about a year or so. My other friend skipped the huge stroller and went straight to the City Mini and loves it. Honestly if you don't do a lot of walking on rough pavements the Uppa is probably not worth it although I do love the parent facing feature. I had a Bug and although a PITA to get in and out of the car I loved the baby facing me feature. I do live in the City though so not in and out of a car as much as a suburbanite.

Re: Which Stroller?

I think there's basically two lines of thinking: suburban and urban.

In the suburbs, everyone I know with the Uppababy Vista loves it for walking, but not for the cars. Basically, if they live in the suburbs and have an Uppababy, they've also bought a CityMini to use when taking the stroller in and out of the car a lot.

If you're living in the city, the Uppababy Vista is stronger and has more storage space, but it's much heavier (moot point if you're in the city and don't have a car).

It sounds like you live in the suburbs and have a car, so if you only want 1 stroller, the CityMini is probably the way to go.

I have the Uppa Baby and love it. I'm a good mix of suburban and urban. I walk to do some of my errands, but use the car 75% of the time. I never thought it was big or heavy. I used it with my infant seat if I was using the car and the bassinet or seat if we were walking. I don't have a city mini so I can't compare, but I do plan on using my Uppa Baby Vista for my second (my two will be 22 months apart).

IMO: I think they are just really different strollers, The uppa baby has a bassinet, a better basket, you can have the baby/child face you or face the road, and the uppa can also be converted to a double. The city mini has a better fold and is lighter. It's just a matter of what you are looking for and what features you want.

Re: Which Stroller?

I love my uppa baby vista and highly reccomend. It's very comfortable for baby and has great features. I also got the uppa baby light weight for when my son got older and was in and out of car but for the most part I used the vista and still do.

Which Stroller?

I have the uppa baby for my first son, and using it again. Love this stroller! Yes, it is bulky and eventually I did get a maclaren for when he was older, but still love my uppa baby.

Which Stroller?

I have never used or even looked at the uppa baby vista because i heard many good things about the city mini. A friend of mine just got the uppa baby vista and already regrets it. she says its a great stroller its just big and was very expensive (ended up not getting it as a gift so she purchased it).

I registered for a snap n go which is what i will use while the baby is in the infant car seat; and then the city mini when it outgrows the infant car seat

We went with the City Eilite. I wanted something with an adjustable foot rest and the basket was bigger. Super easy to fold and light enough for me to get into the car. A little wider than the mini, but it seemed completely doable.

Re: Which Stroller?

I have the Vista, and while it is very bulky, I still love it.

First, the basket is by far the best of any stroller I have seen. The basket on the CityMini is practically inaccessible.

I love that I can turn the seat toward or away from me. You can't turn the seat on the CityMini.

The seat has so many different positions and you can adjust the foot rest - it is very comfortable. You can't adjust the foot rest on the CityMini.

You can use the Vista as a snap and go, which makes it not terribly bulky when you have an infant. You can't use the CityMini as a snap and go.

I love all of the accessories that you can get for the Vista, and their customer service has been very helpful when I needed them. Their sun protection is also the best.

Last, the Vista converts to a double, so now I don't need to buy a second stroller when DC2 comes. You can still use the Vista as a snap and go with the second seat attached to it, so I like that it grows with us.

The only thing I would give the CityMini over the UppaBaby (other than price) is the weight and the ease of closing. It sometimes takes me a few minutes just to get the stroller folded up, but I think they have improved the new models and they are easier to close.

We have the UppaBaby GLuxe as an umbrella stroller and we are very happy with that as well.

A piece of advice - some smaller stores will discount the stroller if you buy your furniture or other big ticket items there, so shop around as opposed to just buying at BBB.

Re: Which Stroller?

well, i stressed over this (plus the carseat) for weeks and weeks and drove myself insane.

i wanted a stoller that i can use from birth and get a lot of years out of it so had to have a good weight max. also wanted really really lightweight and not over like $350. i finally decided on the maclaren quest sport. i could have also gone for the techno which is the one step up and a little higher in price.

a big thing for me, again was being able to use it from when baby is a newborn, not waiting till like 3 or 6 months so that was a big decision factor and also limited my choices.
