Which is better netflix or hulu?
I currently have Netflix but thinking about going to Hulu. Please tell me which you prefer and why you prefer one over the other?

Hulu is more about TV and Netflix is more about movies. Do both as a trial and keep one or both

I kind of disagree. Netflix has every movie you'd want if you get the DVDs in the mail. But streaming... the movie selection is pretty poor. Netflix is all about the TV for me too. But Hulu has current shows and Netflix only has shows that are on DVD already. So if you missed 30 Rock last season, you can catch up on Hulu now, but not on Netflix. And if you've heard a lot about the Gilmore Girls and have always wanted to see it, it's all on Netflix but not necessarily on Hulu. Make sense?

That absolutely makes sense! So, how would you rate the movies on Hulu? Im torn because Im all about tv shows but DH loves movies. Currently we have Netflix (but only streaming) I dont want to have netflix and Hulu. I rather have one and that we both enjoy it. So, I know Hulu would be perfect for me since they have recent tv shows but I would like to know if they have decent movies also?

I totally agree with this. As for movies on Hulu, I've never used it to watch movies and didn't know they even have them. I'm not a huge movie person so the selection on Netflix is enough for me. I find Hulu really frustrating. Sometimes they get rid of shows out of nowhere when we're in the middle of a season. Ours tends to freeze a lot which netflix doesn't do even though we watch them both on the same devices. Also, I'd rather watch the tv on netflix because they usually have all bu the most recent seasons of a series so I can start from the beginning of a series I've never watched and go straight through.

Netflix does the same thing- they get rid of certain shows or movies with ZERO notice.
DH loves old movies, he was watching Dragnet (the original one) and got interrupted half way through...didn't get back to Netflix to finish watching it until 2 weeks later and it was unavailable. Thrn last week he saw it was available again (makes no sense).
I haven't tried Hulu but am considering it as well.. They (Netflix) suck with the New Releases, IMO. Was watching "Bad Teacher" with Cameron Diaz on Cable when a friend stopped by and we went to dinner...when I wanted to finish the movie, I searched for it on Netflix but it wasn't there...Same thing with the "Happening" with Mark Wahlberg (another one I was watching halfway through at my parents house before getting interrupted).
So far, the one thing I do love about Netflix is that I have watched the old Twilight Zone episodes, Frazier and the X files...most of the movies I want to see aren't there.

Which is better netflix or hulu?
I had both for the past six months. I think I've logged into Hulu 2x since I got Hulu+. I hate the commercials and the movies they have on their aren't ones I'm interested in. If you don't have cable, a DVR recorder or use On Demand, I think Hulu is good if you want to watch recent episodes of current shows but if you have those things its a waste of money. I LOVE netflix...I use it on my Nook and my iPad all the time.

You asked about movies on Hulu... I didn't think they had movies, but they do. Their selection is TERRIBLE though, OMG, why even bother? lol. The number 1 movie on Hulu Plus is called "Stacy's Mom" and the biggest star in it is Mr. Belding from Saved by the Bell. Here's the list of the most popular movies streaming on Hulu now:

Both of them used to so much better. Recently they are cracking down and making licensing SO much more difficult to get so, in my opinion, neither one really has good choices anymore. Netflix used to have much better movie selection and Hulu Plus used to have more tv show selections. I think it sucks. Hulu plus doesn't have a lot of current shows and the networks wont even play them online. SYTYCD and the Voice for instance. A lot of networks are making it so that you have to have a cable provider to even watch them online anymore. So people getting rid of cable are getting screwed again.

Hulu I like better because it has more shows we watch, all seasons etc...movies selection sucks
Netflix the kids use more for kids shows, the movies SUCK for streaming!
We will probably drop netflix soon.
We may just upgrade the movie channels and just get hulu for a month say to watch a series and then cancel and join as needed to watch something kwim?

Love my Hulu Subscription. I rarely have time for TV so its nice to be able to catch up when the urge strikes me.

Honestly, they are apples and oranges. They aren't the same to me at all. Where Netflix lacks, Hulu thrives and vice versa. I use them both for different things. Like a previous poster mentioned, Netflix streaming options are pretty poor movie-wise. They have a ton of great tv shows though. For instance, Supernatural is coming up on it's 8th season. I never watched it before, but I was able to watch the first six seasons on Netflix. Now I'm watching the seventh season on Hulu, KWIM?

I have both. They're different. Hulu is great for catching up on current TV shows and some of the past TV shows Netlfix doesn't have.
overall I like Netflix better because there are no commercials. The commericals get SO irritating on hulu because 1) I'm paying for this service..WHY am i watching commercials and 2) it's the same commercials over and over again, PLUS if you have to rewind, you have to watch the commerical again, and one some devices you can't really rewind properly, it stops you at the commerical. UGH.
it's really about content. I have both and watch different things on them. We also have the streaming from Amazon Prime. Other then the new shows on hulu, there is a LOT of overlap
