Which do you think is better?
I'm trying to decide what to get DS for Christmas and have no clue of the difference between Xbox 360, Live and Elite? I thought he might like the Wii, but I have to admit I think it'd be more for me..
ETA: I've asked DS and he likes all of them..NO HELP!

I like the Wii better, my nephew and niece have that and they are really good at the games.... I'll admit when i go over there i'll play with it.

we have a wii, and its great. I think its easier to control, and it has more child friendly games( depending how old your ds is)

The 360 is basic gaming console that plays Xbox 360 games.
360 Elite also plays 360 games, is black, and plays HD movies.
Live is a pay-per-month service for 360 and 360 Elite that allows you to play online against other people and download new content for some games.
DH said for a 17 yo, he would just get an Xbox 360 with a Live subscription. It plays all the games the same as an Elite.
On a side note... PS3 for $399 has many of the same games, has a built in HD movie player (blue-ray) included, and included a service just like Live but it's free. Eventually it pays itself off, because in the long run you are not paying for a service like Live at $16 a month (or whatever it costs but it's close to that).

It depends on what kind of gamer he is. I LOVE the Wii, but it's for more casual gamers. The upshot is that the Wii is cheaper and gets you off your butt. Lots of the games require you to actually move your body, which I think is a great thing!!!
The XBox and PS3 have better graphics and have the games more serious gamers want like Halo 2? 3? on the XBox

Xbox and Xbox live are the same machine. THe live is a subscription so that you can play online vs other people. My SH has a Xbox and a Xbox 360. I want a Wii, but they are too hard to find. If he likes sports games, then get the Xbox 360. You can always add the live subscritption later (they sell cards at best buy or those type of stores)
