Marcie, what did you end up picking?
I ended up with a Babys Dream drop gate crib (in the chestnut), and we bought a changing table. We had a extra armoire from our bedroom set, so we are going to use that for clothes and stuff.

Just so you all know yesterday we went and ordered set two (paid in full as well) and now I am having second thoughts. We were looking at both sets in the stores but went with set two because its a few hundred dollars cheaper...but now I am thinking, whats a few hundred dollars over lots of years?
Ugh...I hate second guessing
What type of wood is each made out of?
It depends on the wood and how it is taken care of on how long it is going to last.
My aunt just tried converting her twins beds and she said they were soooo torn up (2 boys) that she had to go out and get new beds for them.

I said #2 but because the cribs with the fold down sides can be a pain to handle when you have a baby in one hand, plus, from what I've read, it can be a safety issue with fingers getting caught in it, etc. They're both very nice, though.

both have the fold down, when we were in the store we tried to get our fingers caught and we couldn't
Ok, I'm officially blind then! I still like #2 better, though I wasn't worried about getting my own fingers caught, but a baby's fingers are so much smaller. I'm sure it's safe, though, or else they wouldn't sell it.
