Which date for party
DS's birthday is in late August and he wants a party on his actual birthday at a place. If that date is chosen, school starts a couple days later since they go back before Labor day. (8/29)
DH suggested the weekend before 8/22 but I think more families will be away on vacation. I normally wouldn't care but the place charges per kid and I don't want to over estimate if a lot of kids can't make it.
So what is the better date in your opinion 8/22 or 8/29?

I think any weekend in the summer is hit of miss. I don't see much of a difference between those two dates - neither are a long holiday weekend.

Us too.
BUT, I also know most places let you call a day before with final head count.
There's usually only a minimum # of kids you have to pay for and anyone else who shows up you can pay by kid.

Totally do it on your kiddos birthday if that's what he wants-- I don't think there is any reason to think less people will show up on 8/29 vs 8/22.. It will be a great gear up getting ready to go back to school!
