Which carseat/booster is your 4 year old in?
I'm thinking about getting DS the Graco Nautilus 3 in 1 that turns into a booster. Just looking for feedback or other recommendations. Thanks!

DD is 4.5 YO 44" tall and 43lbs in Graco Nautilus. If I had the $$ I probably would buy the Frontier over the Nautilus but the Nautilus is good.

Graco nautilus 3-in- one. Still 5 point harnessed. My almost 6 year old is also still in 5 point harness and will be for a long time. So worth the money for the extra safety that will last for years!

Both DC were in their Britax Boulevard until at least 6. DD turned 6 two months ago, and probably won't be moving out of the car seat for quite a while yet. DS moved to a booster on his 6th b-day.

DD (almost 4) (and at weight) and in a booster. She has The Britax Parkway Booster and we really like it.

DD has been in the Graco Nautilus since she was 2.5, when my DS was born.
She's still in the 5 point harness and I have no intentions to switch her any time soon.

4 year olds belong in 5 point harnesses until they max out 5 point harnesses, which is somewhere between 6 and 8, then they can transition to a belp positioning booster. Harnesses spread crash forces over a greater portion of their body and a tethered seat helps reduce head excursion
Here's a video of a crash test which shows a properly used 5pt harness and a properly used booster
As for my picks:
Graco Nautilus Britax Frontier Evenflo SecureKid 300/400 and Maestro TrendZ FastBack
All good options which start as a 5 point harness and convert to a belt positioning booster

Tarabelle, my just-turned 5 y/o DD is JUST making it in the 5-pt harness of the Nautilus. The shoulder straps are at the highest slot and they are JUST at level with her shoulders - if not ever-so-slightly below. I really don't want to have to switch her to the seat belt, but it seems I may have to rather soon.
Do you think it's better for her to stay the way she is (even if the shoulder straps are slightly - teeny bit - below shoulders) or should I make the switch to the seat belt? (would a picture help?) TIA!

Since you're in the Nautilus: Did you take out the extra padding? You can see if by reclining the Nautilus if you can gain a bit of room in it too.
If she is AT the limit, time to start booster training her, unfortunately and switch her to full time boostering when the straps are below.
