Where would you rather work?
At 6 months would you rather work in a daycare or retail? Why did you chose the one you did?

Daycare.
I think I have more patience with kids than adults. I've done retail, and to paraphrase "Randall" from Clerks, 'the job would be great if it wasn't for the customers.'
Plus, I'd get free or discounted daycare.

I think retail may be easier at 6 months. You could probally just operate a cash register or something. Daycare would be more rewarding and there are better perks.

thank you! the only negative thing i was thinking about daycare is the fact that kids are always sick and espically with winter coming...but daycare is def better so i have nights and weekends with DH

Retail! Kids are always sick and two weeks ago, I got beat up by a 3 year old!!! it's tough working with kids!

This is me! I worked retail for years (10 actually) and left last year to work in a daycare. It is soooo much better, I can't even contimplate how exhausted I would have been if I was still working in retail. With a daycare setting the hours are better, and the other employees are incredibly understanding and nurturing (at least in my experience). I love what I do now, and even though I had to take a pay decrease, my quality of life has improved sooooo much, I'm so much happier in my career life and feel much more fulfilled! Good luck with you decision!
ETS: The sickness thing is definately an issue. I am always paranoid about that, but I just send them to the nurse the SECOND something seems a bit wacky =)

i remember reading about that! my dh actually brought that up hes worried about that happening to me. Im hoping wherever i go if i do daycare i can get the infant room

Its in Shirley...there's a few sites though (Lindenhurst, Riverhead, Middle Island). I commute from East Meadow to the Shirley and Riverhead sites...crazy I know. They might be, what are you looking for?

My DH was furious!!! You just have to be careful! I should have taken the child immediately away from me-and I didn't, I tried to handle it myself! Just remember that you can't handle every situation and sometimes it's better to have an assistant take care of things! As a side note, I've taught dance for over 12 years and thousands of kids...and this is the FIRST time I was assaulted!

Definitely Daycare. he kids will always keep you going, plus your co workers will be a little more understanding with you being pregnant if you need an extra break or need to take that 10th trip to the bathroom.
