Where would I begin (baseball card related)
We have all of my brother-in-law's baseball cards in the basement-how would I get rid of them, possibly making some money in the process? How do I know which ones are good? Does anyone have experience with this? TIA!

DH has a side business in baseball cards. He's out right now but I'll ask him about it later and let you know what he says.

My father made a fortune when he sold his baseball cards he had as a child. A ted williams rookie card, a few babe ruth ones, etc. I forgot where he went, but go to a reputable dealer! Some of his cards were worthless, others just a few bucks.

Re: Where would I begin (baseball card related)
DH said that you can get a pricing guide, but the best way to get an idea of what they sell for is to look on ebay.
Really the old stuff is what's going to make money. Most of the stuff from the 70's to now doesn't do that well. There are always exceptions, but for the most part it's the really old stuff people want because there are so few of them.
If you want to FM me with more info (rough idea of what years they are from, brand, how many, etc) he can get more specific about best places to get appraisals, places to sell through and all that stuff to help you more.

Thanks so much, all! I feel like we are excavating through our stuff and coming across so many things just collecting dust...there are so many, I don't know exactly what's in there, but I will look and try and get an idea...thanks again

This is 100% true! I collected cards all through the 80's as a kid. Spent all my money on sets and stuff. A few years ago, I was shocked to learn that they weren't worth anything because they weren't rare at all. I started buying complete sets at the time that everyone else was buying sets. Oh well
