Where to donate couch
I would like to donate a couch, but need to have it picked up soon. I have tried Big Brothers - not taking furniture donations at this time; St. Vincent's and Salvation Army can't come until after I need to have it picked up; Vietnam Veterans of America - can only take a couch that is less than 5ft long and mine is too big.
Any other ideas? (Anyone want a couch? )

Tried there too - they don't take large furniture.

Are you on FB? Try your local FB page. See if anyone wants it/will pick it up.

Try Housing Works
They operate thrift shops in NYC, I've donated a few pieces to them before.

Re: Where to donate couch
Think someone posted last week here looking for a cheap couch. Not sure if they still need one.

Yes, I messaged them, but they were out of state (or needed it for out of state)

That's weird. I was at the Ronkonkoma one just a few days ago, and they have some massive pieces of furniture. Couches, armoires, entertainment units, dining room tables, full-size grandfather clock, etc.

I think the issue is that a lot of these places won't pick up anything too big. If you can get it there, they will take it but they may not be able to pick up such a large item. At least that is what I found when I was trying to donate a dresser

Re: Where to donate couch
I just went through this, trying to donate a couch and loveseat. It was very hard trying to find someone. We ended up waiting a few weeks for St Vincent to come and I even stayed home for them to arrive. They came and said that when they sat on it, it wasn't in the condition to take with the springs. We hardly used it and we were shocked. We then decided we did all we could and put it to the curb.

Where to donate couch
When I was looking to donate furniture few years ago, I wanted the stuff picked within couple of weeks but the earliest they could pick up was a month from when I called. If you can’t find a place that picks up and don’t have friends that need a couch, last resort would be to post it on Craigslist for free. I am sure it will be gone quickly. Personally I don’t feel comfortable going this route because I am paranoid about letting strangers into the house especially when I am by myself.

Where to donate couch
Thanks everyone. I had asked my brother if he knew anyone that wanted it. He didn't and texted me that he was going to ask my SIL (his wife) if she knew anyone. She said SHE (really THEY lol) would take it! I'm happy to be rid of it, but even better is that someone I know can use it
