Where should we go?

I am thinking someplace that we could drive (we are on LI). Kids are 13 & 8. Total price about $1,000. Can stay up to a week but less would be fine. In the summer.

We went to Wildwood last Summer and had a blast. I was nervous because most people on here said it was trashy. Totally wasn't, and I'm pretty picky. All families, no punk drunk kids running around since most of the bars/clubs closed. Morey's Piers was really great, the waterparks are fabulous, piers were clean as a whistle, you could eat off them lol.

We stayed at the StarLux, cute hotel right across from the water. A bit pricey depending on when you go. We had a 1 bedroom suite and I think it was about $300 a night. It was one of the most recently refurbished one I could find though, and was actually really cute and Doo Wop themed. Many of them are OLD there with the original furniture from the 50's ha. We plan to go every Summer. If your kids don't enjoy rides, waterparks or the beach though, I wouldn't bother. We stayed 4 nights which was plenty.

what about lancaster county? you can spend a day seeing amish country, going to one of the theme parks not too far from there, hiking, etc.
