Where can I get .........
a protective glass for my dining room table?
I want to be able to use the table daily w/o having to keep the stupid table pads on w/ a table cloth - totally defeats the purpose of buying that beautiful table !!!
I don't have an eat in kitchen, so my dining table, IS my only table -
Is there something other than a piece of glass that I can use??
Ideas?

You can call any glass shop-they do mirror repair..things like that. You could also do plexiglass..

I was wondering about plexiglass -
Do you think that would look tacky?
I REALLY would rather NOT put anything on the table, but I know if I just use it as -is, it will be destroyed.

A company I worked for had a beautiful table in the conference room. They called a local glass company and had glass cut to the shape of the table and put it on top of the entire table. It looks very nice IMO. At least the table will be protected and all you have to clean is the glass top.

He's not on LI, but we used Mike the Glazier in Flushing for a piece of glass for our leather top desk..it was a good experience and I completely understand where you're coming from with your table!
