Where are you putting your car seat?
I know the middle seat in the backseat is the safest, but after installing it last week I don't think I'll be able to lift the infant carrier out without hurting my back. Can you put it on either side instead, even if you have side curtain air bags in the back?
ETA: I was wrong, we have side curtain airbags in the rear which deploy from the roof, NOT side impact airbags that deploy from the car door.

Middle is best in some cars, but not always. Second safest is behind the passenger side.
ETA: I just saw you said you had side impact bags, I would keep it in the middle then. I barely can reach mine in the middle, but it is the safest, so I keep it there.

Behind the passenger side. We have 2 two door cars, and its the only place it fits really well. (and its still a tight fit)

I'm going to be putting mine on the side. The saftey latches are there and a car seat doesn't fit properly in the middle.

mine is in the middle. it is supposedly the safest plus i have a VW and there are airbags all over the place so i prefer it in the center.

We're putting it in the middle. I totally understand the point of it being more difficult to get at in the middle, but I figure it is the safest place, so I will keep safety first!!!

I believe you, but I'm just saying my dog will be upset to give up her seat.
I find that strange though. The passenger seat is called "the death seat", so why would it be safer behind the death seat than it is the driver seat?
I'm not arguing with the fact that the back passenger is safer. i believe it. But I just find it strange.
