when's the best time to pump?

Sorry for so many questions!!!
I'm feeding them every 3 hours and it takes an hour to feed them. I tried pumping immediately after feeding but barely got anything. Today I pumped an hour after they finished feeding- which was also an hour before their next feeding. I think My supply isnt so great so even though they are on the boob anywhere from 20-40 min they still seem unsatisfied and gobble down what I just pumped an hour before (1-1.5 oz and they seem like theyd eat more if they could).
I put in a call to an LC, waiting on that!
Any tips greatly appreciated!

I found after the first feeding was the best. I gave myself an hour timeframe. It helps to be consistent with this, over time your body will adjust and you will produce more when pumping. Don't worry about not having enough for the next feeding, you will!

My lactation consultant told me never to pump more than 20 mins at a time, I wish I could remember why. Kellymom. com is a great site with helpful information!

i had low supply. there was really nothing i could do about it.
if you have PCOS, lost a lot of blood during delivery, had a preemie, were on magenesium before or after birth, or wait an extended time after birth to start nursing or pumping you are at higher risk for low milk supply. mine was so bad i never was able to EBF. i did nurse until 9m but i always supplemented too. i tried drinking a million oz of water, pumping a lot, nursing and pumping, oatmeal, more milk plus/fenugreek supplements... in the end my supply was my supply and there was nothing i could do about it.
a lot of people, including LCs, gave me a lot of good tips but in the end nothing i did would increase my supply due to the issues surrounding DDs birth. i hope its different next time and i hope its different for you. try all of the tips people give you and don't give up! you can always supplement if needed. good luck Chat Icon

First off you are doing great!!!! nursing twins is rough! I would pump in the morning as soon as they are done. You may not get much at first, but after a couple of day pumping at the same time, you should.
