when you order from 1-800 flowers or something similar....
I've always been at the place the flowers/other was being delivered to me to receive them.. just worked out that way or maybe the sender knew where'd be? What happens if I order something for someone and they end up not home when its delivered? Do they have to go pick it up somewhere? What if its perishable (like a basket with food in it)? Do I need to know where they'd be definitely before ordering? and then what if they/no one is there?
I bet this is a Dumb question but I have no clue?!

I know with with flowers we have ordered from FTD they were left at the door (residence). I don't know about food items.
