when you go to the OB...
Do they take a sono and measure the HB each time? I went at 8.5 weeks and the doc did a sono, but I think it was only because I said I had saw some brown blood the day before. He did not measure the HB. Just wanted to know what was "normal". I go back again next week at 10.5 weeks so just wanted to know what I should expect. Thanks!

most OBs dont do a sono at every appointment. for me when they did a sono they checked the heartbeat on the sono, and when they didn't do a sono they checked the HB with a doppler.

Mine does not. She sends me out for the important sonograms (like NT scan and Anatomy). The facility I go to has better equipment than my doctor.
She did do 2 very quick sonograms on her very old machine early in the pregnancy to check for heartbeat when the doppler was not detecting it.

I only had sono at 7.5 weeks to confirm due date, then 12 weeks, and then 21 weeks. that is my last sono unless something warrants another one.
They check the heartbeat with the dopplar after 12 weeks if I remember correctly. They do it each time. I think before that it is hard to hear with the doppler

My 1st appt @ 6.5 wks was just to give urine & take blood since I had a previous MC @ 6.5 wks.
My 2nd appt @ 7.5 wks they did a sono, blood & urine
My 3rd appt @ 8.5 wks they did a sono & urine
My 4th appt @ 12 wks 3 days " ".
I went to a different facility for the NT scan
My next appt will be in Feb, I'm sure it will just be Doppler & Urine. I will be shocked if they do another sono.

No, I don't get a sono each time but I hear the HB every time.
Normally, it goes like this unless there is something they need to look at inbetween:
7-9 weeks (1st appt)
12 weeks
20 weeks
36 weeks

Mine is usually 7-8 weeks, 12 weeks and 20 weeks. Then no more unless there is a problem. If you go over the 40 week mark, they do a growth sono.

I've only had sonos at 8, 12, and 20 weeks. I'm hoping I have one more but at 28 weeks they haven't mentioned it.
I think they can measure the hb early on the sono, but can't listen on the doppler till about 12 weeks. Even then, the dr told me maybe she would be able to and maybe not. If not, she would have done a sono.

My doctor checks the heartbeat at every appointment with the Doppler. I only had a sono at my first appointment (8 weeks) and 12 week nt scan, 20 weeks level two and 32 week growth sonogram.

I got a lot in the beginning bc I had a chemical last time and then started bleeding at like 7 weeks. But my insurance only allows sonograms at 8 weeks to confirm pregnancy, 12 weeks for scan and 20 weeks. Unless there is a problem.
So unless they want to check the bleeding, they probably won't do another sono

I had a sono at 8 weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks,20 weeks, and 31 weeks I think I get one more at 38 weeks. But didnt get one every appt.

My OB does a sono everytime I go but does not measure the heartbeat, she does it because I want to see the baby and see the heartbeat... She knows Im a nervous nelly so she knows that calms me down...
The big sono's on the big machines are done at 10-12 weeks for NT, 16 weeks for anatomy scan 1, 21 weeks for anatomy scan 2 and then I dont know what the schedule is after that...

My ob does a sono at every appt. So far I had it at 6w, 8w, and 12w and I go back at 15w.
With DS after 16w I had sonos every month until 32w. Then it was every 2 weeks until 36w, every week.

I had an u/s at 9 weeks and then not again until 20 weeks and won't have another. They do check the heartrate each appointment though.

I had a dating sono at 8 weeks and then the NT scan around 12 weeks. Starting at 11 weeks, the doctor listens to the heartbeat at every appointment with the doppler.
