When would you tell?
I'm 10 weeks, almost 11, pregnant with #2. My company downsized and I'm in the process of interviewing for jobs. I know legally I don't have to say I'm pregnant on an interview and at this point I have family members who still don't know we are expecting again so I see no moral or ethical obligation to tell a complete stranger. I am "high risk" and my chances of m/c are higher than average so in my mind to come out on an interview may just leave me with no job and no pregnancy... but regardless...
So say I get a job... do I tell right away or wait till I'm visibly showing? My last job my manager was so happy for me - he hugged me and congratulated me even though I had only been with the company about 6 months. Anyone have a not so pleasant experience if they had to tell a "new" job.
DH and I are actually hoping I'll land something before I start showing or else we figure there'll always be "someone more qualified" or "it was a tough decision, but they decided to go in a different direction" and in this economy competition is so fierce - it's easy for them to say such a thing and have no recourse.

Re: When would you tell?
Crashing - we hired someone a few years ago and within a month or so it was obvious that she was pregnant, but she didn't say anything to her supervisor until she was like, I don't know - maybe 6-7 months pregnant (we had all figured it out by then, but she didn't say anything until then).
Yes it is true that an employer cannot fire you because you're pregnant, but at the same time if I were in your shoes, I personally would not say anything right away. #1, you said you are high risk. #2, the economy sucks and for an employer to know that a brand new employee is going to have to be out of work in a few months when she gives birth for anywhere from 3-12 weeks, is definitely something that might influence them to reconsider or whatever. I believe in NYS we are all employees at will (unless you're in a union), so they could potentially let you go for any other reason and so long as it can't be proven that you were let go BECAUSE you are pregnant, then what could you do, you know?
At the same time, I do understand wanting to be honest and let your employer know - wanting to do "the right thing" mentality. I say, wait until you find a new job and go with your gut at that time. Lots of good luck to you!!!!!

Re: When would you tell?
First of all - congratulations!!
To your post, I would absolutely not disclose during the interview process. However, I would disclose when I accepted the job. I would do that if I had say a vacation planned - not to give them an out (since they've already offered you the job) but give them the courtesy of an advanced warning. Since you're about 11 weeks now and still in the interviewing process, I think it would be safe to say that you'll probably be at a comfortable point in the pregnancy to share the news by the time you'd get to that point.
Good luck!
